“We woke up and our daughter said she heard water running,” says homeowner Lisa Straub. “We got out of bed, went downstairs and there was water in the kitchen.”
The source? A washing machine hose that burst in the middle of the night.
“The water was shooting out of the water hose,” Straub said.
The family’s beautiful hardwood floors were warped and ruined. Their finished basement was in shambles.
“I walked downstairs and saw the drywall lying on our Lazy Boy chair and there was water coming from the ceiling and the light fixtures,” said Straub.
The damage? Over $20,000, according to their insurance adjuster.
“That water could have been 3 or 4 inches off the floor before we woke up,” said Straub’s husband.
